The Soda Labs team landed in Brussels (June 2024) for the annual ethCC conference.
At the co-located event, called encrypt.xyz, Soda Labs’ CEO, Avishay Yanai, joined industry leaders like Prof. Nigel Smart from Zama & KU Leuven, Zac Williamson from Aztec, and others to discuss cutting-edge advancements in cryptography.
Avishay’s talk centered on on-chain general-purpose confidential computation (also known as decentralized confidential computing, or DeCC), a rapidly evolving field with multiple promising approaches. Different teams have been exploring solutions using technologies like Trusted Execution Environments (TEE), secret sharing (SS), Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE), and garbled circuits (GC). In his presentation, Avishay made a compelling case for garbled circuits, highlighting their potential as a high-performance solution that can outpace other cryptographic techniques.
